Peg leg is so much fun and new families are always welcomed as friends.

Nathalie, one of Peg Leg’s young walkers, tells us all about her experience of walking for the first time last year, and why she can’t wait to do it again!

Peg leg is so much fun and new families are always welcomed as friends. We spend the week together doing daily walks to churches and then having lots of fun back at the hall. We all help do a jobs in the week to help everything work like making sandwiches to share or setting the table for everyone and gives you chance to chat. On the walks we sing songs and take it in turns to carry the cross. When we get to the churches, we let the little kids who are too young to carry the cross on the roads have a go of carrying the cross. Everyone has a turn of carrying the cross. Carrying the cross makes me feel very happy and proud. Walking is good because it helps you make new friends because as you walk you talk to different people. We visit some lovely churches and sometimes meet the parishioners who really enjoy speaking to us and giving us drinks and biscuits.

Every evening there is a liturgy (this is when we think about a bible story and you can take part in drama to describe it or join in with your musical instruments. It also gives us ideas for our crafting the next day) that everyone comes to and if you are an older child from about age 9 you can join the older children liturgy as well and then there is the adult liturgy. This is fun because we get to discuss things from the bible in more detail and ask questions and share your own ideas.

There is a craft room where we get to draw, cut and stick, make models and you have your own little special book to write and draw in or add photos to. You get to play at the place we stay and can bring a scooter or bike to go round the go-cart track on. On some of the days there is chance to go on the pedal go-cart or on the electric go-cart (but you can only go on the electric go-cart if you are 10 years old or older). There is even a chocolate egg hunt and a sweet hunt that all the kids join in with!  On quite a few of the days we stop at the parks and get to play in the park for a bit.

If you have any family members on the different legs you meet up with them on the Friday, so all the groups walk the Holy Mile together as we walk into Walsingham for Easter weekend. On one of the days depending on the weather we might stop and have a paddle in the stream. On the Wednesday we do foot washing and on the Thursday we have the Passover meal. The walks are so much fun because we walk with our friends and sing songs and some songs have fun energetic actions

If you join us you will be sure to make some great friends and have a lot of fun. When you make friends on Peg Leg you can’t wait until next year to see them all again. It’s great! We hope to see you on our leg this year.
